Insecurity is not the disease, It is one of the symptoms of a complex syndrome, named poverty that has crippled many developing nations.
Foundation for Sustainable Enterprise Development Initiative (FSEDI) is another call to action against poverty and its sequelae in Nigeria with Rivers State and the Niger Delta Region as its pilot space.
So much has been said about insecurity in the Niger Delta. But it is clear that the security situation in the region is a product of the poverty of means and of knowledge. Available statistics placed Rivers State in the second position nationally with 36.4% unemployment rate with other key Niger Delta states like Delta and Akwa Ibom following on the list.
It is estimated that Over 70% of youths (age 15 - 24) in the region live below the poverty line. 40% of Niger Delta youths are unemployed and this is far above the national average of 14%. Youth unemployment and under-employment has ultimately become the driver of conflict that has so negatively impacted on the peace and development of the region.
The FSEDI Initiative is an innovation driven by passion to uplift a million plus people out of poverty into prosperity by promoting sustainable jobs through Local Enterprise Development in the next five years. This is a collaborative action that requires your effort and mine to birth a sustainable socioeconomic change and this is achievable through a strong and consistent advocacy with value reorientation, job creation through Enterprise Development, access to finance/market and business linkages as our major focus.
Don't hold back, put in your best effort. Together we will stem the tide, upturn all negative statistics and help rebuild the lives of many.
FSEDI, promoting jobs, prospering people!
